Sister in Law's Birthday Extravaganza!!
My sister in law Jo, turned 40 on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve was the final event of months of celebrating entering her 5th decade! Her celebrations included a girls trip to London, a trip to Santorini, a family meal for her actual birthday and a HUGE party at The Baltic Hotel, Liverpool . The cake above was a gift to her from me for her party. I wanted to do something to match the theme, but also something personal to Jo. We are both lovers of crystals, so I knew I couldn't go wrong with a Geode Cake. The cake was actually black (it looks blue in the photos!), with hand placed and painted sugar crystals. We didn't cut the cake that night but the next day it was cut up and distributed to as many people as possible!
She planned this party for years, and it didn't disappoint! She thought of everything, even down to a song from our old Society days that got us all up dancing, with confetti coming down from the ceiling. The amazing DJ was Dave Butcher, fabulous photos from Robert Kershaw, Balloons set up from Vicky Sweeny @ Sapphire Wirral, Stilt Walkers & Disco Ball Heads were Pastiche and amazing Sax & Bongo players Light it Up!!
